Will there be more "Beyond" content?
I was really looking forward to the founding of Ebonhawke, the recalling of the Ebon Vanguard, etc.
Do we know, or has anyone read anywhere, if they plan to still do some more "GW:Beyond" content, even if its after the 8/28 release of GW2? I searched on here and in other on-line forums and such, with no real luck.
I'd love to see the story kind of tied up, at least to a jumping off point to shoot you into GW2. And, yes, it is close to that now...but it would just "feel" better if we got some more stuff to be a part of...kind of like they did with GW:EotN...
Maybe I'm too sentimental about this game and its story, but it really feels like its just gonna be left "dangling"...and I hope that doesn't happen.
Any insight form the MODs, or DEVs is most welcome.

your guess is as good as ours, however, with the recent changes they have made (no new masks for festivals) its not a good sign for future updates--we shall see I guess

That's what I am afraid of...thought I saw something on here about the LIVE team being moved over to help finish up GW2, but couldn't find the thread again...I HOPE we get a bit more.
Thanks for sharing my concern Cos...

It probably depends on how much of the Live Team returns to GW1 after the release. The Live Team will likely stay on GW2 until the launch bugs are worked out and for a while after; only once operations are smooth would there be a chance for some to transition back to GW1 support. Until then, we'll have largely minor tweaks.
Honestly, one thing I can see them doing is delaying the release of the Beyond content for Elona until they begin work on the expansion/campaign leading into the GW2 iteration. It would provide GW1 players new content and act as advertising for new GW2 content.
---
I think the real issue was they planned Beyond to hype GW2 but underestimated the time it would take to complete it. WiK was pushed out fairly quickly, but there was a year downtime before WoC started, and that took twice as long as WiK to release all the content. By that point, the Live Team was likely under pressure to automate enough features that they could transition to GW2.

I'm still waiting for the more from Mad Kings court we were told was coming. There was nothing new last Halloween.
Done WIK on 5 characters, sometimes NM, sometimes HM. WOC on one, and only in NM.

woc was huge...and took way too long to get moving...wik was nice and short--would like something a bit longer than wik, but no wheres as long as woc. I have completed wik on 10 characters while only less than half that for woc--just not as much fun.
I hope they come back, but I am not holding my breath--shall we say. We have been told things in the past only to have them change.

probably, but not for a long time, if they still do it
i think they will, but first GW2 will have to be completed, by fixing bugs and flaws (flaws are kinda more mistakes and/or incomplete stuff, i guess)

Nightfall's story still needs to told, but if they do come back to making content for GW1 to tell that story, it won't be for a long time. If they decide to at all.
All updates show they are preparing GW1 for a life cycle of nothing new.
The new NPC's Noblewoman Sun Li& Imperial Supply Master Kagno show this.
The updates that happen to GW1 now, are to allow the game to run in a loop without having to provide anything new.
I refer to this Support forum post as well to their future plans https://forum.guildwars.com/forum/fo...ge/1#post11864
Unfortunately this tactic, as always shown to become a self fulfilling prophecies, online games need new content to keep the majority interest, by not providing this, the low interest in game starts to happen. (5 years ago, on GW2 dev shift/focus.)
I really want the Elona's descent into madness to be told within the game as well. Just Anet as a company may look at the population numbers a year from now and decide it is not worth the effort to do so.
We as a community need to show that we interested in having Nightfall's beyond content produced. - Small ways are just keep logging into the game.
- Tell your friends about GW1 and show them the game. They might just like it enough to buy it. Same goes for GW2, when in game tell all the new blood that there was a game called Guild Wars before it...lol
- Buy things from the online store for GW1, Anet is awesome, with awesome people. However it is still a company and they are in it for the money and money talks louder than a whispered forum post.
A character slot here, a storage pane there, every once in a while is something that tells Anet we support them/GW1.
These are just my thoughts on the matter, not saying anyone as to spend money to make Nightfall Beyond happen. Spending money on game is a choice and I like that Anet since 2005 as given us that choice.

The Nightfall story can be told in GW2 as well. Are we looking forward to this knowing that it was us players who left a great evil alive?
(And we gave him back his Bone Palace and scepter and part of his minions.)

You mean Elona? My guess we will fight there again and get rid of Palawa Joko once and for all.

I think this is a key point here. We might see it in the future, but from the way John Stumme said things, it's doubtful that any new content will be coming our way. Most likely that "temporary" move of the Live team will become permanent - happens all the time. Most likely we're only going to see necessary bug fixes for the next few years (like we had for Sun Li yesterday).
GW2 is the flagship now and will be for a while. Whether new players come to GW1 or not or we keep buying things from the store really won't change that. GW2 will be the breadwinner and thus will be the focus of development time and resources. GW1 will just be treading water for the remainder of its lifespan, I fear.

This is how I see it. The people making the content needs to be payed. While at the moment GW might see a boost of income from people who wants to enjoy the original game while they wait for GW2, after the GW2 release the amount of games will be barely enough to keep the game running (cost of servers, mods and support).
I understand as a fan of this game that new content would be awesome, but look at it from a commercial point of view. What money is to gain in developing this old game while you can make much more money in further developing GW2?
I think they let the servers running for bout 2 years max and then pull the plug. If you love this game I would rather be more concerned bout that then bout new content.

No, what they actually said was that GW1 servers will run as long as players are active and playing it. The threshold for number of players and activity was undefined.

considering that nearly the entire Live Team has been moved to GW2, I highly, highly doubt any more GW:B content. Considering the change in festivals, where they won't even have resources to make new hats, that should be a pretty strong indicator.
Honestly, I'd rather it be this way. I want all new content devoted to GW2. Seriously, it's time to move on.

yeah, I doubt that they are going to 'finish' anything...kinda like your favorite tv series that gets canceled without completing the final season (perhaps they will post a twit about it or blog it someplace ---where I wont read it)....but in the end ...I believe we have seen the last major changes to the original game.
so lets all start our creative writing class assignment on--the mad kings court...
next lesson will include 'Evennia--did she make it out of Ascalon'?
/sigh
(not everyone is going to move on...thanks)

I think open storylines might actually be picked up in GW2, it's a great continuation. I can't wait to see what they have in store for GW2 holidays, and I guess the next one would be Halloween!!
I'm virtually positive they'll have even a better holiday event team, with the big increase in staffing. What'll be sweet is brand new holiday events that we haven't ever seen, rather than the same event with different hats and different Mad King jokes.

Evennia will have been dead 250 years...how exactly would you 'pick' that up?
I just want some kind of ending I guess..just knowing what happened (I feel more like I have been watching a really good movie and had to miss the last 30 minutes).
